► Rui Guo

Welcome to the most mysterious candidate.

This is Rui Guo or you can call me Ray and I am from China, Beijing. I studied supply chain management in Beijing Jiaotong University. In 2009, I set my mind on continuing further study in the same field in UK. Therefore, I came to University of Plymouth to study the final year of BSc International Supply Chain and Shipping Management. If asked to describe myself in a brief way, I’d say: a keen self-learner. During my subject study in Beijing, I learnt calculus and computing by myself. For calculus, I used up to 5 notebooks to do the exercise for calculation. For computing, especially hardware, I took apart my computer case dozens of times, including CPU and silica gel. Finally, depends on the wide knowledge I learnt, my dissertation got the first mark in my grade. This year, I am learning statistics and simulation in my spare time.

My work experience began in the beginning of 2006 in Beijing Jiaotong University working as a library assistant which helped me to learn math and my major at the same time. Meanwhile, I extended my activity scope as a main guide in the welcome week ceremony, attending the communication program between my university and Scotland Qualification Authority, organising and performing drama with my classmates in Chinese New Year celebration. In 2008, I applied for the volunteering job for 2008 Olympic Games, unfortunately; because of the working time limitation I could not join the team. Nevertheless, I found a job in supermarket working in electronic department. During that period, I got up at 5:30am every morning, selling products to both local and foreign customers and refilling the warehouse. In 2009 I decided to take the opportunity to come to Britain finish my study, gain more knowledge and lifetime experience.

After settling down here, I joined our UPSU and found that our UPSU is very powerful and systematic. At the same time, I am fond of diversify cultures here. I became a welcomed guy in our Chaplaincy, to learn the faith and culture. Furthermore, I absolutely enjoy playing table tennis and always try to improve the level of my ability. I am sure I can be a bridge to help our international students to learn the British culture here. And also, if my British friends want to understand different cultures from other countries, surely it is easy for me. With my active experience, I will enhance the cooperation and relationship between our UPSU and others societies in our city, for example CSSA. My aim is to make our UPSU more active, more international.
This is it about me and I appreciate your support.
