The Summer Ball
Despite only being in my first year here at Plymouth, I already have an honours degree from the University of Life.
I have already played an integral part in improving the standards of the accommodation for a large number of students residing in the St. Thomas court building, by press ganging senior members of the building management. Even arranging a meeting with the regional manager of UNITE, who only gave in to my demands after six weeks of relentless pressure. It is thanks to me that the building has under gone some major aesthetic reparations, as well as having the fire door and intercom system reinstated. It is with my afore mentioned impetus that I will pursue any and all of the issues that are brought to me, I am an approachable person and I am willing to help any student with any issue, relevant or not. I particularly enjoy resolving people’s issues personally as I derive a greater sense of satisfaction in doing so. I am a very proactive person and I like to take the first step, once I start something I like to resolve it quickly and to the best possible standard, so that I can move on to the next task at hand.
I have a considerable amount of experience from my time in the Royal Navy, where I was required to implement strict procedures, maintain a demanding schedule, produce work to challenging deadlines and manage other personnel, all in a simulated wartime environment. I also have particular experience in handling large sums of money, as an accomplished team manager in the Royal Navy I was in charge of managing departmental accounts. This is perhaps one of my more valuable skills as it has served me well in the years outside the Navy in other positions that I have held since.
These skills will prove to be very beneficial for me in my role as deputy president, working together with my future colleagues need not be difficult, as I am sure they will find me to be a very competent person and will invest every confidence in me as I hope everyone else will.
