Benefits: Why would I want to be a Course Representitive?

 

  • Training sections will be set by UPSU.

  • Certificate. A course rep will receive a certificate when the academic year comes to the end

  • Kinds of learning opportunities/experiences. The experience can be used as a learning opportunity to gain important skills, such as being assertive, communicating, listening, public speaking, time management, stress management, lobbying, negotiation, being a team member, referral skills, confidentiality and report writing.

  • These skills are transferable and you’ll find that they will prove useful whatever profession you end up working in.

  • Finally, being a Course Representative looks excellent on your CV as it shows you are willing to take on and deal with responsibility.

Nowadays, only a degree is not good enough help a graduate student to hunt a good job, as a report from the internet suggests there are on average almost 500,000 students graduated from UK universities yearly. All competing for the same post-graduate employment opportunities, and employers are only looking for those skilled individuals who have the desired skills set along with a degree for their positions.
