Student Parliament: why not run to be a part-time Union Officer?
The Union Parliament is the main decision making body of the Union and is where policy is generated, discussed and voted upon by elected representatives. The parliament is made up of a cross section of the Unions membership and includes representatives from all across the Student body. It is also there to hold the full-time Officers to account and make sure they are doing their jobs properly.


What positions are there?


Part time Officers
There are also several Part-time Officer positions on Student Parliament. These positions are responsible for chairing specific campaign sub-committees on Parliament and overseeing campaigning in these areas and representation for specific groups. They will also attend the university meeting relating to thier area of interest


* Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Officer

* Women's Officer

* Racial and Ethnic Officer

* Postgraduate Officer

* Ethics and Environmental Officer

* Students with Disabilties Officer

* Mature Students Officer

* Education Campaigns Officer

* Welfare Campaigns Officer

* Student Editor of The Knowledge



These representatives make up the part time officers of the SU. As well as representing their groups on Parliament they also chair their own campaigns committees which plan and carry out various campaigns throughout the year.
The remaining members of Parliament are made up of students whose sole responsibility is to represent their various groups; however they may have other responsibilities outside of Parliament.


Independent Reps (4 positions available): Independent reps ensure that the democratic principles of UPSU are upheld, and represent all students at the University of Plymouth.

Faculty Reps (1 for each faculty) Faculty reps attend the Union Executive Committee meetings representing the students of their faculty. They also attend UniversityFaculty Board meetings
